Commentaire de Docs Histoire
Il a la même structure et obéit aux mêmes principes que le commentaire de documents en géographie. La différence entre les deux se trouve au niveau de l’introduction. En histoire, on doit intégrer à l’introduction le contexte historique. L’erreur généralement commise par les élèves est d’attribuer à chaque document un contexte historique. Le contexte historique est un contexte d’ensemble tout comme l’idée générale. Il s’agit ici de l’évènement qui a précédé celui dans les docs. Après avoir trouvé ce contexte historique, le cheminement et les procédés sont les mêmes qu’en géographie.
TRAVAIL PRÉPARATOIRE
1- Lire le titre qui indique le thème central (c'est à dire ce sur quoi porte le sujet, les aspects qui seront développés);
2- Lire plusieurs fois le sujet (Pour mieux le comprendre et s'en imprégner);
3- Analyser le contenu de chaque document (ce qui y est présenté, son idée principale) : cette analyse fait apparaître les idées ou informations que les documents contiennent.
4- Cerner les limites géographiques du phénomène étudié (s’agit-il d’un phénomène à l’échelle d’une ville, d’un pays, d’un continent ou à l’échelle mondiale?) ;
5- Procéder à l’identification de chaque document c'est-à-dire : donner sa nature (type de document), son objet (thème abordé par le document ou son contenu), préciser sa source, puis ressortir sa spécificité : il s'agit ici, sur la base des informations contenues dans le document de montrer en quoi il est différent des autres et ce qu'il apporte au traitement de la question);
6- Rechercher l’idée générale d’ensemble ou thème central, c'est-à-dire le fil conducteur qui unit tous les documents. Cette idée est souvent indiquée par le titre mais il n'est pas exclu de trouver soit même son idée générale et d'ignorer celle proposée qui est indicative (comme en Français par exemple) ;
7- Lire les documents en les reliant aux questions : il s’agit d’extraire les idées des différents documents, les trier, les classer et les hiérarchiser. Ce sont ces idées qui servent à bâtir une démonstration. Elles dépendent des questions. Au cours de cette étape, on identifie les questions puis les documents qui vous permettront d’en répondre. C'est ce qu'on appelle construire la matrice synthétique d'idées ou plan détaillé sous forme tabulaire (cf. tableau ci dessous) Ceci est une étape très importante car non seulement, elle vous permet d’apporter les éléments de réponse (idées) aux questions, mais aussi de citer les documents en référence (appel aux documents). L’appel aux docs est la marque de fabrique qui permet de distinguer le commentaire de documents de la dissertation ; - Ressortir les thèmes ou idées principales du commentaire de documents (un thème = une partie); - Adopter un plan : il sert de guide au commentaire de documents et s’inspire des questions intermédiaires.
L’INTRODUCTION
Elle correspond à La première question et comprend :
- La présentation des documents qui intègre : leur nature, les noms des auteurs, leur idée générale. Pour les besoins de la cause, il faut présenter les documents par affinité c'est-à-dire regrouper les documents en fonction de leur nature.S’il y a par exemple deux textes et une carte, vous présentez d’abord les textes et après la carte. Ex Les documents qui font l’objet de notre analyse sont au nombre de 4 et constitués ainsi qu’il suit : Les documents 1&2 sont deux textes tirés de…. ils abordent les causes de la colonisation (doc 1) et les opposants à l’impérialisme (doc 2), le document 3 est une carte…. Après cette présentation, il faut donner le contexte historique d’ensemble ou les circonstances de rédaction.
- La problématique (des divergences subsistent quant à savoir s’il faut parler de problématique ou de thème central) Elle correspond néanmoins à la question : De quoi s’agit-il ou Quel est le problème posé par ces documents ? La réponse à cette question se trouve à partir des questions intermédiaires et en trouvant le fil conducteur entre eux.
- LE PLAN : c’est le guide du commentaire. Il indique les idées autour desquelles s’articule le devoir et annonce clairement comment il sera traité, ainsi que le nombre de parties. Le plan peut être par centre d’intérêt ou idées directrices (mais il est déconseillé aux élèves compte tenu de sa complexité) ou linéaire : il est alors est suggéré par l’ordre des questions intermédiaires qu’on reprend sous forme affirmative (il faut éviter d’annoncer le plan sous forme interrogative, et d’annoncer le plan en utilisant le futur. Le temps à utiliser est le présent). Le plan doit avoir entre 2 et 3 parties. Des expressions telles que : identifier, présenter, montrer, donner, analyser, citer, énumérer, expliquer peuvent être utilisées ainsi que celles indiquant l’ordre : D'une part, d'autre part (pour les plans à deux parties), successivement, tour à tour pour les plans à trois parties. Une fois de plus, le choix du verbe à utiliser dit être judicieux car ce verbe doit refléter l'intention, ce qu'on a envie de faire dans telle ou telle partie. Faites donc attention aux verbes que vous utilisez pour annoncer le plan et assurez vous qu'ils sont en rapport avec la fin à laquelle vous voulez arriver. D'autre part, le verbe qu'on utilise doit aussi être en rapport avec la question posée.
On se résume: Dans une introduction de Commentaire de documents en Histoire, on commence par:
- Présenter les documents en prenant le soin de les regrouper par affinité (textes avec textes, cartes avec cartes etc).
- Ressortir le contexte historique C'est un contexte d'ensemble à tous les textes.
- Énoncer une Problématique
- Annoncer le plan.
LE DÉVELOPPEMENT OU EXPOSE :
Il a la même structure qu’en Géographie. On identifie les thèmes à développer, on construit la matrice synthétique d’idées. L’élève peut critiquer les documents, manipuler les données, apporter d’autres connaissances pour mieux éclairer les documents. Il est organisé en parties auxquelles sont solidaires des paragraphes. Chaque partie porte sur un thème. Pour chaque partie, au début,
1- On utilise une introduction partielle. Elle annonce le contenu des paragraphes qui suivent
2- On sélectionne de chaque document les informations (2 à 3 idées pour chaque partie) qui vont servir au traitement des questions
3- On organise ces informations pour construire des paragraphes cohérents: si ce sont des textes, on mets les informations tirées des documents entre guillemets et s'il s'agit d'autres documents, on les interprète et on intègre le résultat de cette analyse dans la construction du paragraphe (voir analyse des graphiques). A chaque fois, on cite le document d'où est sortie l'information qui vous permis de répondre à la question (cf. doc1, d'après le doc 2, en se référant au doc 3, (doc 4). N'oubliez pas de bâtir des paragraphes c'est à dire une idée, son développement et son illustration par des chiffre, des exemples etc. Le paragraphe se fait en un bloc et comment par un alinéa (vous sautez un carreau ou une case)
4- On termine la partie par une conclusion partielle qui fait le bilan de l'analyse et ouvre sur la partie suivante.
Chaque partie doit contenir au maximum quatre idées. Les réponses doivent partir des documents, et l’élève les complète à l’aide des ses connaissances personnelles : seules les connaissances extérieures expliquent les documents. Les documents servent de supports où on doit tirer des idées ou citations (cas des textes), des chiffres ou des évolutions (tableau, graphique) à utiliser pour étayer l’explication. Il faut bien exploiter les documents pour les utiliser dans les réponses. L’élève doit être capable de manipuler les données, d’exploiter les graphiques, d’expliquer telle ou telle variation, de lire les cartes, bref de faire parler les données. Il s’agit de l’intégration au commentaire des documents, du commentaire des graphiques, tableaux, et autres cartes. Il faut en outre, toujours faire appel aux documents, c'est-à-dire citer le document d’où est sortie l’idée qui vous a permis de répondre à une question. Ex. : D’après le document 1, si l’on considère le document 2, (Cf. Doc 4), (doc 4). Au début de chaque partie on utilise des introductions partielles et à la fin des conclusions partielles qui servent de transition. L’élève peut construire la matrice synthétique d’idées pour bâtir son développement.
LA CONCLUSION :
Elle correspond à la dernière question et ses articulations sont :
-Le bilan ramassé de l’analyse ou les grandes articulations de l’étude que vous avez menée
-La réponse à la problématique
-Le jugement de l’élève : quelle valeur donne t-il aux documents ?
SUJET 2 : LES PROGRES SCIENTIFIQUES ET TECHNIQUES.
Document 1 :
Les progrès agricoles suscitent aussi une double demande qui stimule l’activité industrielle. La révolution agricole repose en effet sur un accroissement de l’outillage ; charrues, herses, semoirs … s’ajoute progressivement la demande d’engrais…. Les causes qui ont amené la grise agricole sont aujourd’hui connues …il y a d’abord le développement agricole considérable des nations de l’Europe centrale et occidentale telles que l’Allemagne, l’Autriche, la Hongrie, la Russie, la Roumanie dont les produits agricoles affluent de plus en plus sur nos marchés, sans parler de l’Italie et l’Espagne dont la concurrence pour nos vins est devenue redoutable.
Il ne peut entrer dans la pensée de personne de réduire les salaires de nos ouvriers qui sont manifestement insuffisants … Maintenir le coût de nos produits à un taux suffisamment rémunérateur en empêchant leur avilissement excessif par la concurrence étrangère. C’est ainsi que les tarifs de douane se lient à la question sociale elle-même dans ce qu’elle a de plus aigu. Source: J. - Donnez la nature de chacun des documents ci-dessus. Quel le contexte historique ? Quelle est l’idée générale qui se dégage da chacun de ces documents ?
- A la lumière des documents 2 et 3, dégagez les conséquences économiques et démographiques des progrès scientifiques et techniques.

INTRODUCTION : Il est soumis à notre réflexion trois documents : le document 1 est un extrait de la page 162 du manuel scolaire Histoire, Gregh 2nde et il parle de la révolution agricole ; le document 2 est un tableau d’évolution tiré du même manuel et montrant la croissance de la population Européenne entre 1800 et 1900, le document 3 quant à lui est un extrait du rapport général fait au nom de la commission des douanes françaises par J. Meline. Il est tiré de la revue « Document Parlementaire ». Il présente les causes et les solutions de la crise agricole. Ces documents qui se situent dans le contexte des progrès scientifiques et techniques, présentent les conséquences économiques et sociales de ces progrès. Dégager les conséquences économiques et démographiques de ces progrès, puis expliquer la forte croissance démographique en Europe au 19e siècle et évaluer ses conséquences, et enfin dire comment s’explique la crise agricole et la solution utilisée pour la combattre constituent les grandes articulations de notre travail.
Les progrès scientifiques et techniques du 19e siècle ont eu une panoplie de conséquences économiques et démographiques.
Sur le plan économique, on a le développement de l’outillage agricole et l’utilisation accrue des engrais (doc1). Ceci cause la surproduction et la crise agricole (doc3). On note aussi le développement des concentrations industrielles et surtout la concurrence commerciale (cas des vins doc 3) (je me limite aux docs 2 et 3 selon la consigne).
Sur le plan démographique, la principale conséquence est surtout l’essor ou le boom démographique qui s’est matérialisé d’après le document 2 par un doublement de la population Européenne en un siècle (1800 – 1900) ; ainsi la population Russe passe de 40 à 100 millions d’habitants, celles des Iles Anglaises de 16 à 41,5. Il est judicieux d’expliquer les causes de cette forte croissance démographique.
La forte croissance démographique observée en Europe au 19e siècle s’explique par l’augmentation de la production agricole qui entraîne une bonne alimentation et la diminution de la famine. S’ajoutent aussi les progrès de l’hygiène et de la médecine et surtout l’amélioration des conditions de vie des populations. Tout ceci va entraîner de nombreuses conséquences.
Parmi celles-ci, on a : l’exode rural, les migrations internationales des populations. A cela s’ajoutent la recherche de colonies de peuplement pour caser l’excès de population et l’essor urbain (naissance et croissance des villes) et les phénomènes y afférant. Enfin on a le chômage. Parallèlement à la croissance démographique s’est développée la crise agricole.
Cette crise agricole s’explique d’après le document 3 par le développement agricole d’autres nations européennes. Ce développement entraîne la surproduction agricole dans ces pays qui vont exporter leur production sur le marché français. On note aussi la concurrence de certains pays tels l’Italie et l’Espagne pour les vins.
Pour juguler cette crise, il est préconisé dans le document 3, la pratique du protectionnisme pour limiter la concurrence étrangère. Mais comme autres solutions, on a : la recherche des débouchés extérieurs et le maintien du salaire des ouvriers.
CONCLUSION : Les progrès scientifiques et techniques ont entraîné des conséquences économiques et sociales. A cet effet ils ont favorisé le développement de l’agriculture, contribué à l’explosion démographique et à la crise agricole. Les problèmes liés à ces progrès n’ayant pas trouvé des solutions en Europe. Ces derniers vont se tourner vers l’Afrique pour la recherche des débouchés, pour écouler le surplus de leur production, des matières premières et surtout des terres de peuplement pour caser leur population excédentaire.
